not that i personally want a mowhawk,
but whenever my parents see a kid with a mowhawk, facial piercings, colored hair, chains and studs all over, or anything like that, they always tell me
"god, their parents must not pay attention to their kids"
and i want to show them otherwise.
are there any parents out there who care about their kids
AND let them go around with green hair and nose rings?,
and can you explain why youve let your kids do it?
i have nothing against it, im all for parents like you,
im just wondering how youre mind works in being
a "cool" AND "responsible" parent .
Do all kids with mowhawks have neglagent parents?
I was going to get my son a mohawk haircut but he changed his mind. He's a A student and got 100 percent scores on three different STAR tests. Parents are not bad because they allow their kids to have a mohawk. Besides kids don't know how to wear a mohawk properly anyway. LOL I had one when I was a young woman. Not that I'm terribly old but I see a lot of mohawks just sitting on the head. When I had mine I used elmer's glue to get my hair up really high. It looked cool. The mohawk's of the 80's were much better than todays. So, the answer is no. LOL

no

That is crazy. A wonderful kid and person may have piercings or non-traditional hair. That is very judgemental to assume something. Also sometimes when it comes to teens, parents have to pick their battles. Piercings and hair color are not a big deal. The more parents may try to change it, they will end up distancing themselves from their child.

well both my little brother and my sisters child have mohawks and they paint their hair, my brother also has both ears pierced and he is only 9 but my mother isnt neglegent she just encourages us to show our individuality. Piercings and hair can change, it isnt so much neglagience on the parents but more a childs right to being an individual. I am sure that there are some parents that arent responsible but at the same time for those few there are dozens that are. or maybe some of those parents are trying to hard to be cool and friends with their child not a parent or role model!!! i believe that at some point a child needs to express who they are but with my support and my approval. I am not going to let my 5 year old completely punk herself out but if she wants to wear funky jewelry and cool clothes like her idol Hannah Montana then I will support her, because i know that it is just a phase.... and i am probably about the strictest mom you have ever seen!!!

No that FALSE one of my close friend Nick in my Junior High School has a purple mohawk and his mother participates in school activities, she is in the PTA, and she drops and picks him up from school, and is even his Baseball Coach I hope you know believe different.

my mom would kill me if i did anything to stand out and be one in a million and not one of a million. but she still doesnt pay any attention to me. so i think that the parents have nothing to do with it. we come up with the decision to do it. and if we want it bad enough then we'll do it even if they hate it.

My son (age 7 now, but was 6 at the time) had a Mohawk. I do not consider myself negligent.
We regularly buzz cut his hair. My husband jokingly left the middle and told him he was all done. Our son liked it. We let him keep it for several weeks. It served an unintended purpose, as well-my inlaws HATED it and I thought it was funny since they had cut my daughter's hair without our consent or permission (her hair was past her waist, and they brought her back with it shorter than chin length).
He has also had a "rat tail", which he wants to grow again. I see no harm. Parents need to pick their battles. I would allow "outrageous" haircuts and temporary coloring, as it will grow back...fight the piercings and tattoos. But that is just my personal opinion for MY children.
My children are healthy, smart, well behaved...and even with his mohawk and/or rat tail he was involved in church, scouts, baseball, etc. Your parents should know not to "judge a book by its cover".
Good luck in your quest.

no that is an unwarranted sterotypical response that is childish and not necessary. i had a mohawk from age 6 to 10 and my parents are from harvard law school and stanford. they knew how cool i thought it was when i was that age so they let me do it because i was not harming anyone and they knew that i was a kind child where people wouldnt look down on me

My cousin is very close to her parents, and they are very responsible for her. However, she's got wild hair. It's just kids trying to express themselves. As long as they're still obeying the law and not doing anything dangerous, it's ok for them to look different.

Uhhh, the world doesn't need anymore of your stereotypes. I'm sorry you have to live with them.

My mom let my brother grow his beard out and put multiple color rubber bands in it. %26amp; I dont know a family closer than ours. He had a mohawk at one point, a lip peircing and eyebrow %26amp; nipple too. Now hes an amazing father and husband. Having a mohawk didnt ruin his life or anything lol. My mom gave my brother and I all the attention in the world. That just the style he chose, me on the other hand I guess im "preppy" I make good grade, cheerlead, %26amp; dance. So I think its silly to say that parents dont pay enough attention to their kids if they have mohawks.

no one of my best guy friends used to have a mohawk from what i had heard but he's a nice kid with strict and caring parents.

Oh how funny.
My children are more than welcome to get mo-hawks -during the summer. During school, I find them a tad distractive and I don't want to have to fix it for them everyday.
My children, all elementary students, colored their hair for halloween last year. It was temporary color. Turned out to be more permanent for my oldest. It was bright, bright pink. My middle child had purple hair for about 2 weeks. I thought it was very cool. My oldest got so many complements - and she's not used to them.
I let my children put any color they want in their hair. I think it's fun.
As far as responsible: I am a stay at home Mom. I am PTA President for 2 years now. I am room Mom for all kids. Pretty responsible, eh? Then I guess it'd surprise your parents - I have bright blue streaks through my hair. I went to a new hairstylist - one from...get this...CHURCH...and she was chosing some highlights and lowlights. And I told her to add some blue. It makes me happy, makes me feel funky.
I'm sure there were parents who couldn't believe the other parents were letting their kids do "the Twist" or listen to Elvis.
My Mother is very conservative (77 years old) - extremely - but she understands my need and respects it as well - to do something wild just for me.

My older sister dyed her hair blue one summer.
I have a friend who has a mohawk and him and his parents are really close.
What's the big deal? It's hair color and hair design. What your parents should be more concerned about is the person they have raised. If you are a good kid, then you should be able to do what you want (to some extent) with your body.

my boyfriend has a mowhawk and his parents are the kind who go to EVERYTHING and care loads. they let him because it's a way to express himself without going absolutely hay-wire. they let him have the little things so he wont go get drunk and get a tattoo.
Do all kids with mowhawks have neglagent parents?
Look to me that is a sterotype... I've always wanted a mohawk %26amp; i have a pretty good life as to piercings, I have none... It's just one of those things in life you'd like to try out. %26amp; Sometimes it's not even the parents fault...
