and I usually say, "because they want to."

That answer seems simple, but now that I think about it, what is the real reason why a lot of young Mexican guys (teens to 20s) put a lot of gell in their hair? I'm not being racist, and I don't really mind what they do to their hair, but why? They don't really need it. Is it a style or a trend? People of other races to do, but not as often.

i noticed that too. its basically just the style right now. i just moved to florida from PA and nobody really gelled their hair up there (there weren't any hispanics) and i noticed its what ALL the guys do down here. basically they just feel it looks good and on some of them it does. just how black guys wear their hair in braids i suppose

Italians...especially the "Ginos" and indian guys also use alot of gel on their hair.... and you are not being racist; its just their idea of a fashion statement

I don't know. Theere are a lot of Mexicans who don't do that though. Rey Mysterio had Nappy Hair (with gel), so maybe they're trying to cover that up.
