im a guy with hair 3 inches above my knees. before u say cut it let me explain. i decided to grow my hair to the floor and then cut it all off and send it to locks of love and i wont cut it until it is that length but i WILL cut it when its that length and donate it. i thought i would be cool to hold up a pony tail that long and send it in for kids who need a wig. i have a question, what should i do with my hair when i go swimming? i dont want it loose all around me because others will be around me. braids get tangled. a pony tail doesnt work becuase it also floats all around and get tangled. any ideas? it would be nice also if u could give me step by step instructions what to do. thx

Put it in a braid and then put it in a bun or braid it and then make a loop and hook that up.

Put it in a ponytail. Then (idk what theyre called) but its like a plastic cap thing? idk lol but ive seen some guys wear them wen they go swimming cuhs they have they hair in braids and dont wanna mess em up, so they put this plastic thing on their head over their hair. i dont know wat its called.. srry.

put it in a bun, here's how.

1.) brush your hair over the top of your scalpand grab it all with one hand and tie it with a hairtie (pony)

2.) get another hair tie (pony) ready and take the pony and wrap it around the hair tie holding your pony in a clockwise circle until all of it's wrapped around.

3.) fasten it with the second pony

and there ya go..it won't bother you at all. i put my hair in a bun all the time when i go swimming..it's not as long as yours though!

My only suggestion is to braid it. like cornrows or french braid or something. a ponytail won't help because they easily come off.

You could try a bun. First put you hair in a regular ponytail, then twist hair, by grabbing hair at the base of the elastic and turning it until the whole length is tightly twisted. Next wrap that around the elastic thus forming a bun... think cinnamon bun, they should look the same in the end.. no icing needed.lol.

Well you could try a bun. What you do is put your hair in a pony, and twist the hair one way. Then pull it around into like a coil, and rap another pony around that. Here's a picture%26gt;

I admire your goal, but ... Locks of Love.. I've read in more then a few places that they don't give out all their wigs to children free - they actually sell a portion of the wigs they make to some families and charge them for the wig based on their income level. They turn down some kinds of hair, like gray hair or bleached/excessively dyed hair. Also, they get way more hair then they can use yearly and they sell that to wigmakers, who make it into wigs that they of course sell for big money to rich balding socialites. Just be aware that your hair may not be going to the noble cause you think it will be .... Donating to the American Cancer Society or another charity might be a better way to help kids who really need it. I don't mean to dump on what you want to do at all, I think its great that youre so dedicated! .. just giving some information. Take it as you will : )

That having been said... definitely put your hair in a bun, or two buns (think : Princess Leia, but on top of your head). Secure the hair with cloth scrunchies or non-metal clips. A cap would really help keep the chlorine from damaging it, but you can always just slather it with leave in conditioner before you put it in a bun. And of course make sure that you rinse your hair and condition it very well soon after swimming, so it doesnt get dried out.
